Questions about this server

What is the IP address for Penguin?

The address for Penguin is play.penguin.gg. In Minecraft Java Edition choose Multiplayer, then Add Server, and paste it into the Server Address box.

Is Penguin online right now?

Not at our last check. Penguin stopped replying to our pings; the last time it answered was 2026-09-29 05:21 UTC. Servers do come back, so it is worth trying again later.

What Minecraft version does Penguin run?

Penguin reports Velocity 1.7.2-26.3, which means it accepts clients from 1.7 through 1.26. A server with that kind of range is normally running a proxy that translates between versions.

Can Java and Bedrock players both join Penguin?

No. Penguin only answered on Java when we tested it, so Bedrock players cannot use this address. We repeat the test daily and will update this page if that changes.

How many players are on Penguin?

552 at our last ping. The seven-day average is 552 and the highest we have recorded in that window is 3,277. The chart further up this page shows how that number moves through the day.

Where is Penguin hosted?

The address for Penguin resolves to a machine in United States. Players far from there should expect a longer round trip, which usually shows up as delayed block breaking rather than as a disconnect.

Is Penguin free to join?

Yes, joining Penguin costs nothing beyond owning Minecraft. Some servers additionally allow offline-mode accounts and some do not — the server decides that, and we do not resell anything.
